About KML to DXF conversion

Converting KML to DXF keeps your geometries and attribute data intact while changing the container format. You can also reproject the dataset in the same step by entering a source and target coordinate reference system (any EPSG code) — useful when moving data between desktop GIS software, web maps and spatial databases. Upload your file above, pick DXF as the output format and download the converted result in seconds.

How it works

Three steps from raw geodata to the format you actually need.

1

Upload your data

Drag and drop any supported vector dataset — a single GeoJSON, KML or GeoPackage, or all the parts of a Shapefile at once.

2

Pick format & CRS

Choose the output format and, if you need reprojection, set a source and target coordinate reference system using EPSG codes.

3

Download the result

The conversion runs in seconds on our servers. Grab your file — multi-part outputs are bundled into a single ZIP.

Why GISFORMAT?

GISFORMAT is a free online GIS converter for spatial data. It transforms vector datasets between open and industry formats — Shapefile, GeoJSON, GeoPackage, KML, GPX, GML, DXF, CSV, FlatGeobuf, MapInfo TAB, SpatiaLite and more — and reprojects coordinates between thousands of coordinate reference systems identified by EPSG codes, from global WGS 84 and Web Mercator to national grids like SWEREF99, British National Grid or Lambert-93. No installation, no accounts, no watermarks: upload, convert, download. Files are processed automatically and deleted from our servers within an hour.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before converting.

Is this GIS converter really free?

Yes. GISFORMAT is completely free to use, with no sign-up, no watermarks and no limits on the number of conversions.

What happens to my uploaded files?

Files are processed automatically on our servers and deleted within one hour. They are never shared, indexed or used for anything other than your conversion.

Which GIS formats are supported?

You can convert between Shapefile, GeoJSON, GeoJSONSeq, GeoPackage (GPKG), KML, GPX, GML, DXF, CSV, FlatGeobuf, MapInfo TAB, SpatiaLite, GeoRSS, MBTiles and File Geodatabase.

How do I convert a Shapefile?

A Shapefile is a set of files. Select the .shp, .dbf and .shx files together (include the .prj if you have it), pick an output format and press Convert.

Can I change the coordinate reference system (CRS)?

Yes. Enter any EPSG code as source or target CRS to reproject your data — for example EPSG:4326 (WGS 84) to EPSG:3857 (Web Mercator). Pick the same output format as the input if you only want to reproject.

Is there a file size limit?

Uploads are limited to 100 MB per file and 200 MB per request, which covers the vast majority of vector datasets.
